My best journey ever

It all started because of my mom. She bought a package tour in a Colombian travel agency. My dad, my sister, my grandma, and me did not know about it, but she later told us! The destination was Margarita Island, Venezuela.

First, in order to left Colombia, we travelled by travel bus to Cúcuta, where the border with Venezuela is; this lasted about one day.

The next day, after midnight, a representative from the tourism agency told us to follow others who guided us to an office (it was Cúcuta's migration office) just near to the Venezuelan border, but without going beyond it, to verify and stamp our passports and suitcases.

Then, a mini bus took us to exchange our budget (from Colombian pesos to Venezuelan bolívares). After that, we returned to the border, where other buses were waiting for us to take us to Venezuela.

We traversed the border to get to San Cristóbal by bus about 63 kilometers. There was an office to stamp our passports, but there weren't almost open food stores. The passports and suitcases review by Venezuelan guards wasn't fast, notwithstanding we had to do that. After, we took the same bus and continued traveling to the airport, located in a town on the outskirts of that city. We were there for about an hour; then we were taking-off on a plane, which took us to Margarita Island. It was sunny and beautiful that day.

The transport in the island was comfortable because by its nature it is a small piece of land; there was a lot of campers, jeeps and motorcycles, for parts of the island were arid zones. And it is easier to people to get around like that, it was almost an empty island.

Here comes the best part of this story: my family and me stayed in a five stars hotel in that island, near to a beach. It was so amazing! The rooms were opened with special cards. The hotel had everything for us, we really enjoyed the nature around, some pools, and the food. An we rested a lot at that time. Also, we went on a safari tour for a ride around the island, we met exotic places, like a lagoon full of starfish and fish, with some seaweed; so, in general, it was rounded by much nature and friendly people. The weather was really weird, some days it was rainy and others it was sunny.

I really liked it a lot, given that I visited new places and rested with my family, although the outbound journey was getting some difficult. 😬

I recommend to you who are reading all this, to have the same or a similar experience. That is very cool. Do not hesitate. If you want and you have money and free time, pack some clothes and carry your budget to make the exchange to the currency is used at your next destination, and... Enjoy!

Thanks for getting here. If you have comments or questions related with this entry, don't be shy and write them more down there. 🙂⬇️

I leave you the following video in case you want to watch it. It talks more about Margarita Island. (I think you can put closed caption for it in the language you prefer)
